Here is what my foot looks like 1 month after started Gluten & Casein Free Diet:

Here is what my foot looks like after 1 month of Glycerin and some additional dietary changes and added supplements: (please note that there was one week that I went off of the diet completely and the area of P spread a little)

Hi Nina,

Please let me know what supplements are you taking?
Also, how does the gluten free diet work?

Hi, nina! Thanks for all that ...
Could you give us an idea of how much G. and how often? And how applied? Pustular is quite unpleasant stuff, and it will/would be valuable to figure out what is the best way to attack it.

How is the discomfort level? Is the itching etc. under control?

Hi there,

In March I started diet:
I removed all Gluten (wheat, Barley, Rye, Oat etc...) and Casein (Milk and milk products) after the first set of pics from 3-08-08. I started taking Tumeric (I didn't see imediate progress, but kept up) and probiotics around this time.

Mid April after seeing a Naturopath I started taking:
Detox Formula (Liver Detox)
Fish Oil
GlycoKinetic (almost a multivitamin, sugar balance, adrenal support)
Quercitin (decrease allergies)
Antiphlogistic
Reconstat (glutathione-skin)
Pectin (clears toxins, bowel balance)
Zinc
Tumeric (continued)
Probiotic (continued)
also started applying Glycerin

Early May after test results the Naturopath found leaky gut, bacterias, and intolerance to Gluten, Eggs, Soy, and small intolerance to milk. So I eliminated the eggs and soy too and she advised me to add some more supp's in addition to the ones above. I started taking them all at once and became swollen. Not sure if being swollen was related to the supps so I went back to the bunch above and I am adding the new ones slowly. I haven't added them all yet.

New Supp's
Glutamine (Leaky gut, stress, anxiety)( I am currently taking)
Berberine Complex (anti yeast & antimicrobial) (just started taking again)

Havent started these again yet:
Adrenal Support
Panplex 8 (digestion - enzyme ?)
Cordyceps (immunity, energy)(I found out this is a form of mushroom and may not be good for P so I stopped taking it)

Hi Brian,

Thanks for turning me on to G.

I am putting straight Glycerin on 1 to 3 times a day (depends on how much running around I am doing usually 2 x). I only have pain when the skin opens (usually scales can cut and dig into skin or sometimes skin splits by fissures). I find that keeping nice cushiony socks and heavy duty sneakers on all the time keeps my foot mostly out of pain (less skin lesions) and hardly any itching. When shoes are off there is more itching, but I have the itch under control now (knock on wood). I would like to apply G and let it air for a while, but usually something happens (kids and chaos) and I have to put my socks and shoe on almost right away.

Hmm ... try lots of the G.+V. mixture. Just take a small jar of Vaseline, pour a bit of G. on top (assuming there's room!) and mash it around with a fingertip. It doesn't mix all that well, but you'll get some thickened G. and some thinned V. there. Apply and lightly rub in. As often as needed.

The combination seems to work especially well with fissure-foot, as far as I can tell so far.

Hi, gf;
At one point about a month ago you were going to start with Glycerin along the edges of your heels; how did that go? If there's any still there, I'd suggest the same as above: finger-stir some G. into the top of a jar of Vaseline and apply whatever mix of the two you get. It seems to be very helpful for feet, maybe something to do with the extreme thickness of the skin there.

I'm still using g full strength,,,but,,,,I had some things going on and missed a few times. It's maybe a little better. I'll keep using it. I can be patient because I know this is a difficult problem.

Thanks guys!

I sure do hope I can have a pedicure in the near future, because my feet are still not looking so good. I would also like to wear some sandals without having pain or making the PPPP worse. Walking in the sand without a worry this year would be nice too. I am dreaming a little too fast here. I don't want to get my hopes up too much because then tomorrow I am sure to wake up with a new batch of pustules.

Good to hear from you GrannyFranny. I told the derm your story and as usual they blew me off. They really need to study your case and figure out why the antibiotic clears you. It could be the link to the cure or something. I am glad you are still doing well.

Thanks again!

Hi, nina;
I've put up some new info on the Glycerin thread about oral use, which you might like to consider. The thick foot skin might well benefit from having G.-action occur from the inside out.

Yes I am glad it is working :0)!

I am still taking the supp's from last month plus I added Vitamin D3 and Adrenal Support without a problem. I also finished the Berberine Complex and switched to Neem as the Naturopath planned. I cut down on the fatty meats and I am starting to eat more fish (once or twice a week).

I finally got to the beach this past Sunday. It felt good to put my feet in the salt water, but the sand did bother the side of my foot a little bit. I wore water shoes for part of the day, but was afraid they were scratching my PPPP. Going bare foot is a bit scary. I am afraid of stepping on shells or anything else etc....

I am putting Glycerin on about 2x a day. I am also putting it on my face once or twice a week. It gives a healthy glow. I put it on a callus that I had and that is going away too.

I can't wait to get a pedicure and wear some sandals some day :0)!

Picture progress

Yes, that's a fine documentary series you're producing here! Pustular is such a vicious version of p. that it's wonderful to see progress like this.

Hi Sarah,,,,,,and welcome!

Those are not my feet but a picture I found. My feet do look as good as those except for the discolored skin where the PPPP was. I doubt that it will ever look normal again but,,,, HEY,,,,,I can walk. I am having a fun summer with my 3 grandchildren. They have to be back in Alabama by the 6th of Aug.

BTW,,,,my best friends live in rRchmond.

Updated Pictures :0)

Here are some updated pics. I am not cured yet. I should probably refine the diet some more, but I don't want to eliminate anymore food groups at this time. It is difficult to feed my family as it is. I am still not eating Gluten, Casein (milk products), eggs , and soy. These were the intolerances that showed up on my Igg test. I also avoid yeast even though my test said I only had a little yeast. I have also started eating more fish instead of so much meat. I had to learn how to cook it first (hehe). So this whole experience has got me cooking a little healthier. My one problem is sometimes I crave my old favorite foods and end up eating 1/2 bag of Gluten free cookies trying to satisfy my craving. Too much sugar is no good, but I am doing my best. I am happy with my progress and hope it continues. I am also using the Glycerin which I really like. I wish the Docs would wake up and realize they could help people by just saying a diet could help (not mandatory, but it is an option) . I don't know if I can trust them after seeing the complete denial. I have seen it with my own eyes- how can they say it doesn't help? All those people who think they have no alternative, but to take harsh drugs with bad side effects. The diet may not work for all of them, but it would probably help some and some is better than none.

Thank goodness for this Forum! :0))))!!!!

Keflex is an antibiotic,,,,,,,,I take 500mg 3xdaily.
I found that this worked when I had a staph infection,,,,,so my docs have kept me on it,,,,,,it'll be 3 years Aug 5. I have not had any problem but I do take a probiotic to equalize the good/bad bacteria in my system. I had the pustular p on hands and feet.
