    Canker Sores

Just wondering, has any of you had troubles with canker sores (mouth ulcers) when they were younger? That was a reaccuring problem for me as a child and I am just wondering if that has any relation to my p. I don't have them anymore, however I wonder if there may be a connection with PH blood levels and having a too acidic PH level. Any comments?

I got them more often the most people did growing up. Up until about three or four years ago (I'm 21 now) I probably get like 2 a year. Compared to 5 or 6 growing up.

I had extensive unrelenting canker sores until I discovered I was allergic to "sodium Lauryl sulfate". It is many toothpastes. It is a soap.
A while back I was being faithful to the "special" toothpaste but was getting cankers, and I was so upset! I sat and thought and thought about what I had changed. The only thing was I had gotten some new cheap vitamins a couple of days prior. So I read the ingredients, and guess what? They had sodium lauryl sufate in them!
My dentist has worked with me for years, and she is in full agreement with me.

Other people may suggest to stop eating acidic foods, etc. I guess you will just try trial and error, but advoiding sls works for me!

But you say you no longer have them?

I never get canker sores anymore!

Did you know that Irish Spring doesn't contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate? I thought that I was sensitive to fragrance but the only soap that doesn't irritate my skin is Irish Spring. Probably bc it doesn't have the SLS in it.

The lotion that has worked the best for me is Vaseling Intenive Care Fragrance Free. It has Water, Glycerine, and petrolleum jelly as the first ingrd.

For the really rough patches I use topical steroid followed up with petrolleum jelly to lock it in.

I think that it is abnormal to even get a couple of canker sores per year, as a kid or an adult. So please share if it happened or happens to you. I really do think it may be related to p.
