I had a consultation with an Homepath last week and much to my surprise she has put me on a diet.
No wheat , no Dairy , no Chocolate for four weeks.

I thought she would just prescribe some form of medication

I was wondering if this is like the Pagano Diet

Just an update.
I have now been on the diet for nearly three weeks and must add I still continue with the conventional treatment.
MTX and Dovabet.

I have notice an improvement and some of the smaller patches are all but gone , my elbows are still a problem but I do feel a lot better and have more energy.
My diet excludes dairy produce and wheat along with oranges , lemons , chocolate , seafood and yeast . this was based on allergy tests so for other people the list would vary.
Yeast is the difficult one due to it being an additive to other products.
Wheat I have replaced with SPELT wheat bread and rolls , this wheat is supposed not to need pestisides.

My feeling is that after 6 to 7 years with little improvement trying this for two to three months ALONG with medical support was worth a try. I am due to meet the Homeopath on April 7th. so will update again after that meeting

How are things going for you with the diet? Seeing more improvements? My mother is a Naturopath and although I see her on a regular basis as a client - everything I tried doing never worked. Recently, I read Dr Pagano's book and started his diet plan. This diet is very much like the diet that I was on years ago - advised by my mother - to rid my body of candida (yeast). I noticed that the 2 diets are very comparable so it is very likely that the diet you are on now will remind you of the Pagano diet. I have been on the diet for about 3 weeks now, along with my derm's treatment. I only apply the treatment to my p areas (on my scalp), but I have noticed that the rest of my body is clearing up from the blotchiness & dryness I had before I started the diet. My ears were always kind of crusty and they have healed to a smooth skin now. All of my skin is now soft & moist. So, take it from someone who has tried the natural treatment without the diet - stay on the diet as much as you can. Even though it's not always easy - I think you will see it's worth it. Best thing to remember is that natural alternatives often take a little more time to take effect. You can't rush nature! Just be patient and stick with it. Hope things keep going well for you.

I was clearing out "my favorites" and came across this thread that goes back to 3/2003...In reading it I can see why I saved it......here are some people that were really getting into healthy eating...I wonder how they did...I know one of them did get clear KBradley...when I first came on here she posted a few times and she sure helped me on my alternative path!!! she was into alternatives too....and was the one that got the original thread going on alternatives...it became so long that it was like reading a double novel...

Seems an age ago.
At first the "treatment" did seem to work but then the Homeopath started doing "guess work" and because the PS was not clearing as fast as she liked even contradicted the previous treatment session.
e.g. One session I was advised to eat tomato next session avoid it.
I think some of the feedback was good but it realy is based on finding foods and more probably drink, I have problems if I drink even small amounts of red wine, which cause flair.

Hello Everyone!

I've been seeing a homeopath for about three months. He put me on a diet very similar to Dr. Pagano's. Perhaps even more strict. I cheat a little bit but not much. Next week starts Month 3 on the diet. He also has me on a vitamin and supplement plan, which is rather mild compared to what I used to take. For example, he reduced the amount of fatty oils I was taking but now he has me eating fish several times a week. He said too many supplements can stress the liver which is not good. He also has me taking homeopathic medicine in liguid form. This is expensive but I'm committed for at least six months. It's hard to say if I've noticed any improvement at this point. I stopped Humira two months ago. It's important to know that my problem right now is guttate. And the Humira was not helping so it was an easy choice. The plague has not come back but for now my scalp gets itchy and my face a bit blotchy. These were problems before the biologics. I read it takes three to six months to see changes from diet. My homeopath says he thinks it will take 12 months. What I like about the homeopath is that he is the first doctor ever who did blood work, looked at the blood work results, did an intensive interview as to every area of my life, had me keep a food journal etc and then based his treatment on all of that. If money wasn't a factor I'd have no problem with this. The big problem is the cost. Anyway, I'll keep everyone posted. I have a feeling that if the guttate goes away I won't know if it's because of dietary changes or just because it went away. I guess the real test will be if the guttate goes away and I can stop home UVB treatments and don't have any plague. Keep us posted.

Yeah, the more I read about psoriasis, the more I think that it's your body telling you to stop putting junk into your body, which I do. I love chocolate, wine, cheese. All the good stuff! I'm starting to think I need to do a candida diet but it's such a drag because the diet looks so limited. I guess I need to start making some lifestyle diet changes. I have started adding flax meal (2 tbsp a day) to my diet and salmon oil tablets. Now I just have to think more veggies, more veggies!

Dr Heng had me take Diflucan 1 pill every third day for 10 days...that got rid of the candida but it will come back if you eat a lot of sugar or yeasty foods....I stayed on the candida diet for the 10 days...she also had me take a good probiotic which I still do.....(Garden of Life brand)

When my skin began acting up badly, beyond anything I could hande w/ OTC stuff, I did a lot of research.

I found some interesting information: In Eastern medicine, skin ailments are viewed as blood ailments that evolve from liver/kidney disorders. In Western medicine, most oral derm meds have contraindications for liver and kidneys.

So when I needed a doctor, I first went to an acupuncturist. I think I was too far gone for acupuncture to help ; my condition worsened to a point that family and friends became very alarmed and insisted I see a 'real' doctor.

I looked for a protocol that would do no harm. I found homeopathy. Even better, I found a board certified MD derm/internist/homeopath/acupuncturist!

Homeopathy will never harm you; if the remedy is incorrect or if you take it incorrectly nothing will change. Homeopathy stimulates the body to heal itself. It is a slower process than allopathic medicine, but the results are enduring and there are no side effects to worry about.

My derm did a lot of bloodwork and biopsies first to ascertain the P, and uses a filter method that reads EMFs to determine which homeopathic remedies are needed.

We began a process that lasted about 15 months. The remedies were mostly liquid drops taken sublingually. His approach was to clear out my system, and then build it back up. We did use some dermsmoothe. All of the other allopathic prescription ointments and scalp treatments he prescribed were too harsh or ineffectual. I took no internal allopathic medicine.

I've had tremendous success, and no remissions. About 80% cleared up. I look totally normal to the casual observer, as long as my shoes are on.

When I first saw my derm in January 2005 I had lost 70% of my hair, my hands were fissured, bleeding, fingertips cracked, nails thickened so much that I couldn't pick up coins or put on jewelry, erythema on arms and legs, scales of the forehead and ears, red neck, swollen legs and feet... Now in Feb 2007, I have thin peeling of the feet, slightly thickened toenails, fingernails that are nearly normal in appearance, I get some occassional erythema nosodum, legs arms torso clear, hair grown back full and surprisingly curly, face clear. My friends and family think it's a miracle!

I feel that I have to do more with my diet and supplements to deal with the feet (which got a lot better, but still peel crack, etc).

So I have very strong and positive feelings about homeopathy. I also use it for colds and flu with great results. The problem with homeopathy is that it is very precise and tedious, so one must have patience and perserverence -- and it's supremely important to have an excellent practitioner.
