    Probiotics/Yeast

Am I correct in my understanding that Probiotics help with yeast? I am mostly clear now with lots of sunshine, Barney's forumula and some help from Clobex Spray when I need it. But I'm thinking that I need to control my yeast levels as well. I was prone to yeast infections as a teen so I'm thinking that I might be prone to candida or higher yeast levels than normal. Is this something that could be corrected with a Probiotic? I know avoiding sugar is another way, which I'm trying as well.

    Thanks!

Probiotics will definatly help, I'm sure! There are also enzymes you can get that will help. I've read good things about a brand called Threelac, but if I remember correctly, it was a bit pricey. I haven't unsed anything to recommend, though.

If you llike yogurt you can get the yeast fighting probiotic enzyme you need with yogurt that contains active culture...it is always listed on the label as active. If you have severe yeast ask the dr to prescribe Diflucan for you to get you in control. Is a once a day pill for anywhere from 1 to 10 days. Clobex would not have any effect if it were truly yeast on the skin, it would feed it and make it worse. If you are having "inverse psoriasis" in skin folds that looks a lot like yeast then the clobex would help. I am greatly overweight and get both inverse and yeast in the skin folds of the groin and lower abdomen. I use OTC Tinactin powder( is sold for atheletes feet) yeast likes dark moist areas and the powder helps to dry things up in the folds when it is yeast. I too was plagued with frequent vaginal yeast infections before menopause but thankfully now those are far between...unless I have to go on an antibiotic. Exposing the area of yeast to air in front of a fan helps a lot to dry things up as well. Best of luck.

Dunno if this would be helpful, but I found a pretty strong acidolphilus the other day. I'm just on day 2, but it seems to be calming me. Each bottle has a minimum of 50 billion cultures and it's in either a dairy- or soy-based medium.

It's called Bio-K+, they have a website at http://www.biokplus.com/en/. Lady at the store told me she's sloshed it against a bite-sore in her mouth and had it disappear in hours. She also said that Canadian hospitals give this to patients who've been taking lots of antibiotics.

It's not cheap at $5/day, but the story is that it helps re-establish a colony in the digestive tract quickly. My local Sunflower market had it in the cooler area with the flax oils.

If anyone decides to try it, there are little plastic caps that can replace the foil tops so you can just do half a bottle at a time, you''ll want one of those and you might need to ask for one so you can shake it before you drink.

Update: This stuff reminds me of when I was taking Primal Defense a long time ago, when it was first came out and was truly potent: I had to work up slowly to the full dose or suffer explosive consequences. In this case, let's just say I've become a bit staccato sounding, not malodorous, but sonically-unfit for polite company. To me this is a good sign that the stuff actually has something in it.
