Hey,
I'm from the UK and have suffered with Psoriasis for about 29 years.....since I was a wee nipper of 3! As you can imagine, I've tried just about everything apart from the systemic drugs such as methotrexate and cyclosporin. Before I start methotrexate, I have an appointment with my ENT specialist on the 29th of this month to consider removing my tonsills as I seem to suffer with strep infections about 6 times a year. My psoriasis flares up and goes wild and guttate psoriasis goes on the rampage!
Has anyone had any experience of a tonsillectomy improving their psoriasis? There seems to be no conclusive evidence or medical literature to support this in the UK, but, my derm has known patients with severe psoriasis clear after tonsills are removed.
Until my ENT specialist reviews me, my derm is reluctant to start me off on methotrexate. He wants to explore all options before the poisoning begins but I'm not confident a tonsillectomy will solve my problem.
Can anyone shed any light?
