benifit payments??

Hi, Can someone please help me? I live in essex,england. I have suffered from p and pa for around 9 years now. The pain is getting too bad now for me to be able to work properely. I am seriously thinking about giving up work now as I'm also a single dad and want to spend my best pain free times doing things with my son. Working all day and coming home tired and in pain is not fair to him. The question I'd like to ask is....has anyone here in england gave up work because of pa? if so what sort of benifit do you get and can you live on it!? Being a single parent might entitle me to a little more but I just dont know. I would be really glad if others could share thier experiences with me and help my desision. Thank you all.:confused:

Nice to hear from you again.

Have you been and got any treatment sorted - where in Essex are you . I was diagnosed about the time you put your first post on here - I don't know if you ever read my reply.

I am starting methotrexate next month which hopefully should get rid of some pain.

About benefits - I don't know if you would be entitled to incapacity or disability benefit but usually if you can claim one then you auto matically become eligable for things like housing benefit or rent and council tax and water rates. Try ringing your local benefit office - they may need doctors certificates to prove your illness.

I have only claimed once when I was made redundant and as I am a mere housewife I am not entilted to anything now.
