Am I the only member who has not received the #2 issue of the new magazine? "Hazy" tells me he got his almost two weeks ago (on the 18th). I've asked Member Services, but, so far, have not had the courtesy of a reply. How about you?
Thanks -- GL

Dear lapradef,
Thank you for getting in touch with me. I apologize for the delay in my response, but we have been overwhelmed here lately, and I've been a few days behind on my correspondence. I'm sure you can understand.
According to your record, your magazine was mailed 4/16/2003, and it can take up to 3 business weeks for its arrival. If you haven't received it by the 1st week of May, please let me know and I'll be glad to resend your copy.
Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions, comments or concerns.
Sincerely,

Are we supposed to get this as members??? I'd really like to get on this list!!!!! I'm obviously a member so now what????
Hey Grey Dog--
As you know I have mine, and for $19.99 plus S&H, I will make a copy and sent you, your very own pesonalized issue!!..hehehe
The distribution of magazines is very location-dependent. I used to to receive the Bulletin later then most (but not all), and I just received the latest Advance yesterday. I'd give it a week before worrying too much about it. In any case, if you don't receive a copy, they'll definitely send you another one.

Molly -- Thanks, but Hazy already has let that cat out of the bag. That's why I've been impatient waiting for my 15 minutes of fame (lol) --
Mike -- I think it's a left-coast conspiracy.
Haze -- Yeah, right; I'll get a check to you as soon as I finish ordering my coral calcium.

You guys are a trip! I love it!! So, since you are so smart and I'm totally computer illiterate, how do I get those cute little "thingys" , I think they call them avatars or icons, to go under my name??? and how do you get pictures in your posts????
A little education on a different subject please!!

I'll have to defer to Hazy and MikeK on the computer literacy and the little avatars, as it took both of them to hook me up with my little "Groping Blindly" persona. It's hard to find "gifs" that are small enough (50x50) for the NPF to accept.
(BTW, the first house I ever owned was at 3812 Parkwood Drive in Greensboro, just south of Market. Set me back $16,750 and scared me to death owing that much. Wonder what it's worth now.)

Marlene, and anyone else wanting to put an avatar etc under their name...I am not great at explaining, so hope I can do this for you...
1. Up at the top look for user cp (under the orange line)
Click on that.
2. Go to edit options...Go to the bottom of the page and look for
change avatar (click on that)
3. Look for a box that already has the http://www. in it...Then add the rest of the url that I will put on for you...You can change it if you don't like it or it is too big...You just have to try it to find out...(this box is down at the bottom)
This will be a bee
www.webdeveloper.com/animations/bnifiles/bee.gif
This will be a running dog
www.webdeveloper.com/animations/bnifiles/dogrun.gif
Then you can go to the web site and check out more of the animations...Maybe Mike or Hazy can explain this much better, but you can try this to see how it works...

Hi Marlene,
I found my avitar at 3 a.m. one morning when the p in my ears itched so bad that I couldn't sleep. I did a google search for "avitars" and found a site called gamespy.com. Here's a link:
http://gamespy.com/avatars/
I clicked on animated and started to scroll down the pages until I found one that I like. Here's a link: http://gamespy.com/avatars/av/AT/at299.gif
I copied the link by right clicking on properties, right clicking on "select all", and then right clicking on copy.
The steps that Molly described are basically the ones that I followed.
Let me know if you have any problems and I'll try to walk you through it.

Where did you find the little bloomer??

I went to the site Molly suggested; www.webdeveloper.com/animations and it has listings by alphabet so I just went through and found my little flower! They have lots of avatars but most of them are really big. I'm going to look some more cause I found out that if I left(?) click on it I can save it to my "pictures" file and download one any time I want it!! Cool huh!?!
Nobody answered my question about Grey though! Where is he, you're going to make me search aren't you??!! Fine! :D :p :D

Not having the magazine, I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing that you saw my photo and just assumed that it was Paul Newman or Robert Redford without bothering to read the caption. That happens to me all the time.

Marlene, now that you know how to bring it in from your computer, you can put pictures here on the message, or down where your name can go...Just use the browse...They don't have to be real small for the message area...Just under your name...you can use Google, or any search thingy and just have fun looking for more animations...Just type in free animated gifs...another site that is good is Feebleminds.com...Have fun!!!! and ya, you will have to find Grey...Ha!

Hazy a/k/a Phred a/k/a Holly want to engage me in a battle of wits. I would never attack an unarmed man!
Molly -- I checked out the "running dog" gif. It was much like the one I originally wanted, "Grey Dog," but, alas, it is also too big -- 200X35. But that's okay. You can call me Greydog if you want. BTW, I created a special folder for my gifs and animations, as MikeK suggested.

Grey Dog, yes, I have a place to save called My Pictures...I don't know where that came from, Marlene seems to have that too...Maybe Micro Soft? So, I just have to SAVE AS and then put it in My Pics and then etc...You know the rest...I think I will try the site that Mike put up...See what is there...Good luck looking for your dog...If I find one, I will let you know...

:D :D You folks are going to have all the threads "laughing". But that's great! My husband asked me today if I was trying to meet somebody! I told him only if he didn't act right (lol)! I AM joking, wouldn't trade him for the world! He just doesn't understand these message boards. But then again, he doesn't understand anything connected with the computer!
Mike you'll get your magazine soon, there is mention in it about a movie where the lead is a psoriasis sufferer!! It's Robert Downey Jr.! Now, is that who we really want portraying our "group"??? I mean he's not a very strong person!(hehehe) Bad joke huh?

Molly -- Like your "Gray Kitty." Did you notice how the new avatar became retroactive? I think the Gods of Microsoft give us all a "My Pictures" file or folder, but somehow I created a new one or sub-folder titled "My Graphics" just for the animations. I'd tell you how I did it, except that, when it comes to this computer, I just keep bumbling, "blindly groping" around until I come up with something, but I'm not able to reconstruct how I did it unless I wrote it down (see discussion of "CRS Syndrome.")
Mike -- I'm still waiting too. I think they use the Pony Express in reverse. I heard the other day that the riders have crossed the Mississippi in skiffs and are now racing eastward. Hang in there, buddy.

Greydog...I checked out the site that Mike put on... Gamespy...I found this cute gray dog and its the right size if you want it...I tried to put it on like Mike did, but it sent me to somewhere else...I am a bumbler myself...So, I think the dog will appear on this, and you can right click and save etc. Check out the site, there are a lot of cute avatars there and most seem small enough for under your name...
Marlene, did you find the Lapradef name yet? Just wanted him to see if first...but I can send you a private mess. if it is bugging you...lol

As you'll notice on your next visit, it's a done deal. Thanks.
I kinda liked "Groping Blindly," as it expressed my reaction to treating P. and life in general, but the "dog" is a play on my name. My "too big" gray dog was waving lamely and looked generally hopeful but bewildered, also a good expression of my attitude, but he was too full of pixels.

Hi Everyone,
My copy of Advance came in yesterday's mail. I went to Philadelphia today and read it from cover to cover on the train ride down. It took awhile, but I finally found Grey's name.
Marlene: I sent you a private message telling you where to find it. Like Molly, I don't want to spoil things for Grey. ;)
Grey: Cool. I like the new avitar! I'm glad that you were able to find him! :)

Greydog, did you get your magazine yet? If you did, did you have trouble finding your name?;)

Sorry, I should have mentioned it. I did report to "Mandy Rice-Davies" (that's not her name, but that's how I remember her), but I should have posted. I received my copy, battered an bruised, on the 8th or 9th, three weeks after it was sent from 3000 miles away. The rider said his horse died somewhere in Tennessee.
No trouble finding my name. "Hazy" tipped me off three weeks ago, but I did need a magnifying glass to actually see it. So much for my fifteen minutes of fame, huh? BTW, I turned the Big Six-Oh this morning at 10:00, and The Haze has been giving me unmitigated grief, but at least he does send all his e-mails to me now in extra-large font so I can (almost) see it without my spectacles. Old age ain't for sissies.

Thanks to all, except, of course, Hazy.
Molly -- Yes, I guess it's better than the alternative, as they say. That cake didn't have nearly enough candles, but then we have to observe the fire codes, don't we.
Mike -- Very nice, very quiet. I guess the "party" took place Friday evening.
Phred -- I'll deal with you later, you whippersnapper.
